If you haven’t already heard (and you probably have) we’re going to get an uninterrupted run of Doctor Who for Series 8. That’s the first time since 2010. Here’s the kicker – it doesn’t start until AUTUMN! So we’re going straight through from Christmas until… what… October? Maybe the tail end of September, if they’re not counting the 2014 Christmas special as part of the 13 episodes we’re getting.
So let me wrap my head around this. We get a new Doctor at Christmas (Capaldi) when we say goodbye to Smith, then we don’t see him again for 9-10 months? Wow. Just… wow. I hope this doesn’t drive away newer fans. If you’re thinking you’ll be bored, don’t forget to come back here to visit. I’ll find you some content!
Something else to ponder: Moffat has confirmed that Matt Smith’s Doctor is, in fact, the 13th Doctor. That means that Tennant’s meta-crisis Doctor and the War Doctor count, making “11” actually “13”. I’m not sure yet if this will change our numbering, but for now I’ll be sticking with the old structure until we hear something official from the BBC. A month or so ago Moffat was telling us that the numbering wouldn’t change and that we’d still be calling Smith “11”. He likes to lie to us and wind us up, so I take what he says with a grain of salt.
You can’t see me, but I’m waving my fist in the air screaming “MOFFAAAAT!”. Nah, that doesn’t work as well as “Barrowman!”…
All right, that’s my rant for the evening. I know I don’t do much these days except repost stuff I find but I’m hoping that after the holidays are over we’ll be able to get a bit of original content up. In the meantime, what are your thoughts on the whole numbering scheme and large break between episodes?
