With less than a month to go, the BBC has released the official synopsis for this year’s Christmas special.:
The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!
Is it just me, or does that sound like the end of Clara to you? I find it strange that the companion would be in the Christmas special as the Doctor has typically been without her/him for most years in recent memory, but if they’re doing away with Clara this may be an interesting time to do it. Thoughts?
Staring at the title of this post wondering what the heck is going on? Type? Nope!
The title of the Christmas special has been revealed, which is obviously The Time of the Doctor. The official synopsis has also been released:
“Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.”
We also have some official artwork:
11 looks positively evil! Of course, we know he regenerates, so maybe he’s angry about it 🙂
I’ve heard/read that some people see Doctors in the fire by 11’s left hand, but I can’t see it. Maybe I’m just blind. Although, is that the Silence off to the left?
The official synopsis for the 50th Anniversary special has been released by the BBC:
The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.
Written by Steven Moffat…
Directed by Nick Hurran
Executive produced by Steven Moffat and Faith Penhale
Produced by Marcus Wilson
Stars: Matt Smith, David Tennant and Jenna Coleman with Billie Piper and John Hurt
Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Zone is reporting this synopsis of the 50th anniversary (look away now if you don’t want to know!)
‘The Doctor and Clara are still trapped in the Doctor’s timeline. The only way to escape is through a doorway hidden at the Citadel on Gallifrey….
The Doctor breaks the lock concealing the Time War and recruits the help of his Tenth incarnation, Rose Tyler and ‘The Other Doctor’ (Played by john Hurt) to help navigate through the horror of the war.’
They’re saying it’s from a “new source” that has been “right on several occasions” but has not been verified (as if you can verify rumors!).
